I have found some cool tunes lately that have a retro, yet modern feel to them. Beverly Kills has put out a song called ‘Disco Biscuit’ that sounds like it could have been created in to 1950′s. It is really cool. The lead singer, Robyn Troup, has an amazing soulful voice. This is one track that will soothe you to your core. It is perfect for a chill end of summer party.

Moving on from the 50′s, I have some 60′s inspired tunes. Lana Del Rey has covered the Nancy Sinatra + Lee Hazlewood classic ‘Summer Wine.’ Lana teamed up with Barrie-James O’Neill for a sweet duet. I am in love with Lana Del Rey’s voice. She did a great job with this cover. This tune will keep you smiling for days to come.

Another tune that sounds like a 60′s hit is ‘Do You Want a Man’ by The Vaccines. It has a rockier + more alternative vibe than the other two songs. This song is easy to overlook. It took me a few listens ’till I fell in love with it. I cannot stop playing it now. ‘Do You Want a Man’ is a sleeper hit for sure.

Jumping a few decades to some 90′s inspired tunes, I have AlunaGeorge‘s ‘Friends to Lovers.’ This song reminds me of Janet Jackson, during her Velvet Rope years. It also has hints of Aaliyah in it. I love AlunaGeorge. The title says it all. She wants to go from being friends to being lovers. The lyrics are great.

The last tune I have is also 90′s inspired. It is the MJ Cole remix of Laura Mvula‘s ‘She.’ What a brilliant tune + remix. MJ Cole takes us back to the good old days of deep house music. Laura Mvula’s soulful vocals + lyrics just add to the greatness of this track. I am in love with this. You will be too. Enjoy!
